Council Results Are In

Sherwood Park / Strathcona County voters have spoken, and we have a new Council for the next four years!

Well, "new" might be a bit of a stretch...

Voters overwhelmingly opted for stability.

Mayor Rod Frank easily secured a third term with 15,753 votes (76.90%), defeating challenger Benjamin Biel, who received 4,732 votes (23.10%).

Council also saw every incumbent re-elected, with Mike Derbyshire in Ward 2 the only new face, replacing Dave Anderson, who chose not to run again.

Here are the full ward-by-ward results:

  • Ward 1: Robert Parks - 63.67% (1,856 votes)

  • Ward 2: Mike Derbyshire - 64.44% (2,334 votes)
  • Ward 3: Lorne Harvey - 67.02% (2,437 votes)

  • Ward 4: Bill Tonita - 67.39% (1,777 votes)

  • Ward 5: Aaron Nelson - Acclaimed

  • Ward 6: Corey-Ann Hartwick - 52.30% (978 votes)

  • Ward 7: Glen Lawrence - 58.49% (951 votes)

  • Ward 8: Katie Berghofer - 73.42% (2,174 votes)

Mayor Frank and the returning Council will now face the ongoing challenge of managing growth, maintaining infrastructure, and balancing rural and urban priorities across the county.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on how this experienced team delivers for residents - and we’ll make sure you stay informed every step of the way.
