The Strathcona County Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Millennium Place today, starting at 10:30 am. The event will feature a variety of participants, including veterans, cadet corps, the RCMP Pipes and Drums Band, and local emergency services. This year’s ceremony will commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The ceremony will include performances by the Edmonton Military Wives' Choir, speeches by local dignitaries, and a performance of "Last Post" by Cadet Chief Petty Officer Elora Cowles. The event is free to attend, with seating available for over 3,000 people, and will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

On Wednesday, at 9:00 am, Council will meet for budget deliberations. Budget meetings continue on November 14th, 20th, 21st, 25th, and 28th, as required.
- The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society (GEARS) will not reopen its Sheltered Paws cat shelter in Strathcona County due to ongoing challenges in securing a suitable location. The shelter, which had operated as part of a pilot program, was forced to close in December 2023 after the building it occupied was sold. Despite receiving a $160,000 grant from the County in 2024 to continue its work, GEARS faced obstacles such as high rental costs and additional fees for infrastructure upgrades. While unable to provide a local shelter, GEARS continues to support Strathcona County through its south Edmonton facility and a feral cat spay, neuter, and return program.

Ward 2 Councillor Dave Anderson wrote an article detailing Strathcona County’s 2025 budget planning process. He said that Council is committed to responsible spending while maintaining quality services amid inflationary pressures. He explained the budget process, which includes pre-budget workshops where Council identifies priorities, followed by drafting and deliberation sessions to assess funding for key projects and operational needs. A public hearing on November 21st will allow residents to engage, provide input, and ask questions before final budget approval occurs in late November.
- The Strathcona Christmas Bureau (SCB) has raised its 2024 fundraising goal to $140,000 due to rising inflation and increased demand for assistance. In 2023, the non-profit helped 600 families. This year, they aim to support 700 or more. To meet the increased demand, the organization has established their depot at 100 Broadview Drive and introduced new donation methods, including a tap-to-donate machine and online applications.
