There will be a City Council meeting on Tuesday at 9:00 am. Council will consider changing the date of the Public Hearing on the recommended multi-year budget from December 3rd, 2025 at 5:00 pm to December 1st, 2025 at 5:00 pm. Administration says the adjustment will better align with the presentation of budget materials, allowing residents to share feedback at the most effective point in the budget process - after the budget presentation but before Council deliberations begin. Council will also go into a closed session to review the Fall 2025 Municipal Association Resolutions.

The Strathcona Christmas Bureau has launched its 2025 campaign with an increased fundraising goal of $150,000 to meet growing demand in Strathcona County. The organization expects to assist around 700 families - roughly 2,300 to 2,400 people - as more residents face financial strain due to the rising cost of living and recent labour disruptions. Last year’s campaign surpassed its goal, raising over $149,000 and supporting 633 families. Applications for assistance are open online and by phone, with intake running until November 30th. Donations of toys, cash, and $25 gift cards are being accepted at the depot at Unit 25, 100 Broadview Drive, and volunteer opportunities are available for sorting, packing, and delivery day.
- The Strathcona County RCMP detachment in Sherwood Park temporarily closed on October 27th after a resident brought in a suspected explosive, believed to be old military ordnance. The front area was locked down while specialized personnel, with assistance from the Canadian Armed Forces, safely removed the device. Normal operations resumed the following day, October 28th. No photos or detailed history of the item were provided. The RCMP reminded the public not to handle explosives and to contact police immediately for safe disposal.
