Last Week In Sherwood Park:

  • Strathcona County has prepared for a busy 2025 construction season, with around $30 million allocated for transportation-related upgrades. Planned projects include road and bridge rehabilitation, sidewalk and trail improvements, accessibility enhancements, and rural grid road repairs. Several Sherwood Park streets will receive resurfacing and spot repairs, while more intensive work is slated for Regency Drive and Regal Way. Major arterial roads such as Lakeland Drive and Sherwood Drive are also scheduled for maintenance. In rural areas, both paved and gravel roads will undergo significant upgrades, including micro-surfacing and dust-controlled overlays. A few capital projects, like the final phase of Range Road 231 and safety enhancements near the new Foxboro school, round out the County’s infrastructure agenda.

  • The County reminded residents that it is updating its Strategic Plan to ensure it reflects the evolving needs and goals of the community. Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to provide input through a public survey open until April 29th. The current plan focuses on four main goals: economic prosperity, a healthy and safe community, responsible development, and municipal excellence. These four goals will remain the same, but priorities within those areas may shift based on feedback. Public feedback will help shape the 2027–2030 plan, with updated priorities shared in early 2026 and final approval expected in December 2026. Participants can take the survey online.

  • The Sherwood Park and District Chamber of Commerce hosted a sold-out trade fair at Millennium Place  More than 12,600 people attended the event, which featured 310 booths and 110 local artisans. Vendors represented sectors from real estate to healthcare, with many promoting Canadian-made products. Chamber leaders said U.S. tariffs and economic uncertainty were top concerns, but the strong turnout signalled local optimism.
