Coupled with an increase in assessed value it will be more than 6.6%.

While certain states in the US are clamouring for the abolition of the property taxes, Strathcona County is fixated on reckless spending. The idea of property taxes in itself is illogical. A one-time purchase of a home triggers a lifelong remittance to the government, while other forms of taxation are also being exacted. It’s time to revisit the original intent of taxation. This drunken sailor approach to spending other people’s money needs to stop!

I’m totally okay with cutting services, lowering administrative overhead and dropping our taxes. I’ll be just fine without neighbourhood ice cream parties, paid for by the taxpayers. Honest.

Too many county employees. Our daughter worked there for a summer and saw the bloat first hand.

There is no need for the County of Strathcona to raise taxes period. We have a huge industrial base. Just stop all of this unnecessary spending. None of the councillors ran on these increases in the recent election.

Cost of housing is already ridiculous and the county unnecessary roadwork for what to raise our taxes …this is ludicrous

Treat your taxpayers with respect and do the hard work of finding and eliminating waste.

this year county spent millions towards a pet project. Tennis court which is rarely used. These expenses must be stopped when county residences are lining up in food banks. County needs to do more tax cut backs to help residents. Residents are still annoyed with the spending on some street bumps – 100% wasted taxed money. They are dangerous and senseless and should be removed. During campaign it was brought up with no positive feedback on removal. Wasteful. We lived here over 40 years. The best living experience was under Iris Evans a smart conservative leader. Taxpayers had taxes reduced to her smart leadership. Lets keep it minimal to only necessities on spending.

No surprise after an election that was ignored by over 70% of residents. Elections are for the purpose of change and moving forward. Petitions , referendums and plebesites are by design fraud. I’ll sign the petition but remind every one that this administration is the same arrogant, ignorant and incompetent run by the previous Darrel Reid.
